Just because something is “the way we’ve always done it” doesn’t mean that it’s the best way. In fact, if you are ever talking with your lawyer and you ask, well why is it done that way? And they say, “it’s just done that way”. You need to question that, just because something has been done this way for a while doesn’t mean that there is not room for improvement, does not mean that there isn’t a better way or a tweak to that process that might be able to advance your clients position or help you out. Part of a lawyer’s job is to be creative and not just accept what is the norm. People that are creative in all facets of life are the ones that push the ball forward or the ones that make changes that are progressive. You need to have a lawyer who is creative in their thinking, creative in their actions, because those are the people who get extraordinary results.
