JOCO DIVORCE LAWYER ANSWERS: IS DAD TREATED DIFFERENTLY THAN MOM WHEN ESTABLISHING A PARENTING PLAN?
Hi, my name is Lauren Fields. I’m an attorney on the domestic litigation team at Roth Davies. Today I am going to answer some common questions asked to attorneys in divorce cases. Are dads treated differently than moms when establishing a parenting plan? The answer, generally speaking, is no. The courts cannot take gender in consideration when determining a parenting plan. Just because you are a dad, you will not be treated any differently than a mom. That being said, judges are still human and sometimes they will take into consideration the age of the child. For example, is the baby breastfeeding still? If you have any questions, please call an experienced family law attorney at Roth Davies.
