Marissa has focused almost exclusively on family law—handling everything from amicable divorces and custody agreements to high-conflict litigation and complex financial disputes. Her practice also involves matters of parentage/paternity actions, child support, spousal maintenance/spousal support/alimony, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements; and protection from abuse/restraining orders. Other actions include stepparent adoptions, adult adoptions, and consensual adoptions of minors, as well as judicial bypass proceedings. Her clients value Marissa’s clear communication, practical advice, and ability to remain steady when emotions run high.
In recognition of her work and client advocacy, Marissa was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2024 and 2025—an honor reserved for only 2.5% of attorneys in the state demonstrating excellence early in their careers.
Marissa is actively involved in her legal community which further strengthens her knowledge and ability to advocate on behalf of her clients. She currently serves as Secretary of the Young Lawyers Section of the Johnson County Bar Association, and is a member of the Kansas Bar Association; Missouri Bar Association; Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association; and Johnson County Family Law American Inn of Court.
Born and raised in Independence, Missouri, Marissa earned her Bachelor of Science in Political Science, summa cum laude, from Northwest Missouri State University in April 2018 after only two years. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in May 2021, where she was honored with the John Speca Family Law Award in recognition of her dedication to the field.
If you're facing a family law issue, Marissa is here to guide you with honesty, respect, and zealous advocacy every step of the way.
