Learn with a Lawyer - Admit when you don't know the answer to a question.
I sit down for consultations with people multiple times per day where I get asked questions. There are sometimes when I don’t know the answer to the person’s question. Perhaps it is a very specific area of the law that I have never had to deal with, or it is just something that I’m not super familiar with. I never give people a broad answer or a generalized answer and I certainly never make an answer up. My response is that, I’m not always 100% sure, I can do the research to find the answer and I’ll get back with the person. Maybe it is something where we can pull a resource out right away and get an answer. Maybe it is something that is going to take some research and due diligence to figure the answer out. But never be afraid to say that you don’t know the answer to something and certainly never be afraid to do the work to find the answer.
