CRASH ALERT: WOMAN STRUCK BY A VEHICLE AND KILLED WHILE STANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF I-435

KANSAS CITY, MO - A 40-year-old woman was killed yesterday when she was struck by a vehicle while standing on the shoulder of Interstate 435. The incident occurred south of the Eastwood Trafficway at around 10:20 p.m.

According to the Kansas City Star, the Lee's Summit woman was traveling northbound on I-435 when her Honda sedan was involved in a minor accident. Her vehicle was disabled in the crash, and she parked it on the left shoulder of the road. 

A northbound Chevrolet SUV saw the disabled vehicle and attempted to pull over and help. In doing so, the car struck the woman and killed her. The driver of the SUV stayed behind and cooperated with the police.
