KANSAS CITY, MO - A woman was critically injured after crashing her vehicle into the concrete support of a traffic sign on Saturday night. The driver was fleeing from a hit-and-run accident she'd been involved in earlier that evening.

According to KCTV News, the hit-and-run accident happened near Red Bridge Road and Hillcrest Road. The suspect crashed her black Hyundai into another vehicle, injuring the victim, and then fled the scene.

She then took off north on I-435 at high speed and crashed her vehicle into the concrete support. The woman sustained life-threatening injuries in the accident and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating if the suspect was impaired.
